The pink doll house

Ben, Nathanael and I went to the country towns of Gunderoo and Gunning on Easter Monday, as I had heard about a couple of nice shops there, including a toy shop in Gunderoo. It was a very cute store, and I found a pink victorian style doll house that I loved. I have lots of miniatures and had no where to display them. So Ben, being such a sweet husband, bought it for me and put it together when we got home. :-) I have set all the miniatures up in the house for now, but I will be painting the inside of the rooms and adding curtains, etc. later on.

We also found a cute wood puzzle and blue wood race car for Nathanael, which he enjoys. :-) The puzzle is almost just like one I had as a little girl.

Nathanael's bad day, etc.

Poor Nathanael didn't have a good Sunday. After the morning church service, he fell down in the car park and scraped his knee badly. Then in the afternoon, he dove head first off the arm of our big sofa and smacked his face on the hard tile floor. He now has a bruised forehead and a black eye. His nose was bleeding at the time, also. I feel so sorry for him, with his eye swollen half shut. Sadness. I knew it was just a matter of time until he fell, though. I was always rescueing him just in time when he was playing around on the couch! Hopefully he won't try a stunt like that again.
You can't see the bruising very well in this photo, but see how swollen his right eye is?
I thought I'd post a few photos of some things I made and bought for the house the past couple of days. :-)
These are an "Easter" hen and duck I found at a cute shop, 30% off. :-) They look just right in my pink kitchen.

A plastic bag holder I made from my favourite "Rose Garden Tea" fabric.

A lavender scented pillow in the same gorgeous fabric. :-)

Baking soda does the trick!

My kitchen cabinets have looked grimy in spots ever since before we moved in, even though I have cleaned them numerous times. Today, I decided to clean them all again, and was really wearing out my hands trying to scrub them. Then I thought about all the house cleaning books I've read that said what a great job baking/bi-carb soda does cleaning. For some reason, I still never tried it. Haha Well, I did today, and at last the cabinet doors, etc. look clean! I couldn't ever get the sticky, greasy stuff off of the cabinets, extractor fan and wall above the stove top before. I'm probably weird to be excited about cleaning, but that's how I am. Haha

Anyway, here is a photo I took of the newly cleaned kitchen. :-)

This is a closeup of my dish rack, which is full of my vintage/second hand plates. The two in front are my "newest" and a couple of my favourites. :-)

My first post. :-)

Hello!

I thought I'd use this blog to write about and post photos of my little son Nathanael, and to tell about this and that in our daily lives, as well as post photos, etc. of our house and all the cute things I find for it. (Hopefully at bargain prices. Haha) I love decorating, especially in shabby chic and country victorian styles. :-)

I will post some photos of our "cottage" later on. I am waiting for my dear friend Melissa to help me. :-) Thanks ,Melissa, for all your help setting this blog up and making it look so pretty. :-)
