Our Christmas In June :-)

I decided I wanted to have a cozy Christmas this year. The only way to achieve that, I think, is to have Christmas in Winter. So, we are having Christmas Day on June 27th, which is the closest I could get to December 25th, season-wise, in the Southern Hemisphere. (We have to have it on Saturday, since Christmas in June is not a public holiday. Haha)
Our formal living room is decorated with my traditional Christmas tree and decorations. We have a flatscreen TV playing a fireplace DVD in the fireplace mantle/surround. So that gives a very cozy effect. I just love this room all decked out for Christmas. :-)
When I was in Idaho last Christmas, I bought several Christmas candles and melts, so the house smells like pine trees, cinnamon, etc. Too bad I can't add the scents to my blog. :-)

Nathanael loves all the Christmas decor! :-)

In my more "shabby chic style" family room, I have my white tree, which includes some vintage pink balls among other very sweet, pink ornaments.
The pictures of our trees didn't turn out that well, because they don't show the lights. I can't figure out how to turn the flash off, though. :-/

If you read this blog, I would love to hear from you and have you wish us a Merry Christmas, via the "comments box". :-)

Merry June Christmas Jessica and Ben! What a fun idea. What is the weather like for you in June? Do you have snow outside? I bet having your seasons switched around has been quite an experience getting used to. Do you plan to have friends over, or just celebrate by yourselves? It would be fun to make some Christmas cookies with Nathanael and go caroling to some of your friends, or church family. - Hope you have a great Holiday!! :) - Becky Weber

Becky,
It doesn't usually snow in Canberra, but it can. :-) However, the Snowy Mountains are just a short drive away.
I am having a friend over for Christmas Eve, but Christmas dinner will just be us.
And, yes, I plan to do lots of baking, which is much more pleasant in Winter than it would be in December here. Haha
Thanks for stopping by my blog. :-)

Oh! The stockings!!!! How wise! They make me feel sad, because I remember when/where you got them. But have a very merry Christmas *in June*!!! Did you say the 27?
I love you! <3

What a wonderfully creative idea. I just ache to bake when it is cold out and I can see snow on the mountains. So yeah you have to have Christmas in June...if only for the baking.

Merry Christmas!
What a sweet idea!

I'm in the U.S. (New York) and I remember when my brother was in the military and stationed in California at Christmas time and he said that made him more homesick than anything, he said they try but it's just not Christmas with warm weather and palm trees!
Hope you enjoy!
And best of luck to you and your family with the new baby!

I enjoyed seeing your beautiful home, you really have a knack for decorating! And a talented handiwork with all you've made!

And how did you have the guts to move so far away?! Really admire you!
